We're very proud to be one of a select handful of stores in North America able to offer professionally tanned reindeer hides. Our hides are imported directly from Lapland, a region of northern Scandinavia which includes Sweden, Norway, and Finland. This unique hide is measured and photographed in the main picture.
Hide No. 216: Length - Top to tail: 58 in., Width - Back leg to back leg: 45 in.
These reindeer hides are sustainably harvested from north of the arctic circle. In this region, reindeer are abundant and provide an important source of income for the Sami, the indigenous people of Lapland. When purchasing an authentic hide from the Lapland region, you contribute to the Sami economy. These animals are harvested not only for its skin, but for food, clothing, tools and accessories.
